FAQs

What’s included with my rental?

All prices quoted are “wet”, which means that fluids (oil) and fuel are included in the price. Each airplane will include a few extra quarts of oil in the storage bay if during preflight you notice it is a bit low.

How do I get reimbursed for gas at an airport other than Watertown?

We base our reimbursement prices off of the current Watertown prices. Bring your receipt back and we will settle up the difference on check out.

Is there a pre-rental check flight?

Of course! It would be foolish to rent to someone based solely on their word. The exception to this is if you were trained here at Conley’s Flight School or have flown with our instructors before. The flight will consist of basic PPL maneuvers and should last under an hour.

Where can I go?

The world is your oyster as the saying goes. All flights outside of the local area (50 nm from KART) will have to be briefed to our chief pilot just so we have an idea of where you are at and when we should expect to hear from you.

How is rental time calculated?

You pay by the engine hour or Hobbs meter. For this reason, it is necessary, as with all flights, to have a plan before you get to the airplane. If you’re flying for currency, map out what maneuvers you want to do, if you’re flying for pleasure, know your route ahead of time.

Do you have any recommendations of where to fly?

Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River offer incredible views and plenty of attractions. Boldt Castle is located in Alexandria Bay, a short flight northeast. If you’re looking for something a little longer, consider a loop of the Adirondack Mountains, the flight to Saranac Lake (KSLK) is nothing short of beautiful.
